Choose A Theme

Websites built with Content Management Systems (CMS) have themes

Themes are a set of instricutions that tell the CMS how to layout the different parts of the site and what colours to use.

Each CMS has it's own set of themes. Some cost money, some don't. Publii have a collection of free theme that we can use for your first site.

Find and Download

• Go here: https://marketplace.getpublii.com/themes/
• Choose "Free" from the left side menu
• Click a theme to preview it and download
  • be careful!
    • you can spend a long time looking at themes. Don't get distracted!
    • The Publii website resets the "Free" filter when you go back, besure to re-enable it.
  • For your first site I recommend Technews
    • it is simple to setup and has a clean layout.

Installing and enable the theme

• In Puibli
• Click the "cog" menu in the top right; Choose "themes"
  • Install the new theme
• Now in Settings menu (on the left)
  • Choose the theme you installed from the "theme" dropdown
  • "Save" the settings using the "Save" button at the bottom of the page
• Preview you site to see the theme in action

Configure the theme

The site nees  little configuration to make it feel like your own.

• In Puibli
• Click the "Theme" menu in the left hand menu
• Set some colours.
  • make sure the body, header & link text colours are different from the background colour
